The BBC are reporting that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have decided to split up. Given Ann Coulter's hatred of single mothers, will this now put Bristol on her hit list, or will Ann give her a free pass because she's the daughter of a Republican?
In her recent book Guilty, Ann Coulter viciously lashes out at single mothers in several chapters. In fact, chapter two is actually entitled "Victim of a crime? Thank a single mother". On page 59 she even states that a single mother is worse than a cigarette company.
There can be no doubt, Coulter lays the blame for many of societies ills squarely at the feet of single mothers. This must cause a bit of a dilemma to her and her faithful fans, when it comes to Bristol Palin. As Levi and Bristol are now splitting up, it remains to be seen how long Levi is prepared to stay in the picture, which lands Bristol squarely into the target group Coulter and her followers love to hate.
So I wonder - will Coulter be critical of Bristol, or will she suddenly and miraculously overcome her hatred of single mothers where Bristol is concerned? And if she is critical of Bristol, will that criticism draw plenty of fire from Palin's faithful supporters? Is being a single mother excusable if you're a Republican?
Coulter, like Limbaugh, has always been a windbag. It will be interesting to see if she can keep her mouth shut if asked about Bristol Palin's single mother status. My guess is she can't. I'm getting the popcorn in for more Republican infighting.
UPDATE: There appear to be quite a few people in the comments that think I'm declaring "open season" on Bristol. That wasn't the intention of this diary. There's nothing odd happening in Bristol's case that isn't happening all over the country. The point of this diary is to ask the question that now this has happened to someone prominent, will Ann Coulter finally shut up about her crusade against single mothers (unlikely), will she find some way to exclude Bristol because of who she is (likely), or will her fans and Sarah Palins fans end up fighting because Sarah and Bristols followers believe she's been treated badly but Coulter's fans believe she deserves it. It's the Republican Hypocrisy I'm highlighting here, not the fact that Bristol finds herself partnerless with a child to look after.
